As one of NOAA’s only freshwater sanctuaries, Thunder Bay is uniquely situated to tell the story of the Great lakes maritime history and features hundreds of the world’s best preserved shipwrecks.
The center serves as a launch point for visitors coming to the Marine Sanctuary while the showpiece exhibit experience—a recreated 19th century schooner—doubles as an immersive 4D theater and a space for holding sailing skill classes.
