The name itself tells a story: Deadwood, South Dakota. Nestled in a gully in the Black Hills, Deadwood is a quintessential frontier town and a 21st century playground in one. Every year, nearly two million visitors come to Deadwood to recapture a piece of the American Wild West and to enjoy nightlife, dining, sights, and sounds.
The new Deadwood Welcome Center will give these tourists a place to discover the many hotels, restaurants, museums, hiking rails, and attractions that the city—and the region—has to offer. This is not a museum, but an orientation and a teaser, a way to get people out the door and ready to explore the Black Hills.
